Ambient light EOL testing equipment verifies every automotive interior ambient light before it leaves the production line. This standalone tester integrates electrical and optical inspection in a single station and a single loading cycle, so each light strip, PCB module or complete assembly is fully checked without repeat handling between separate machines.
Imaging colorimeters measure luminance, chromaticity and uniformity across the full emitting surface, while quick-change fixtures switch between models within minutes. Every test result is recorded against the unit barcode and uploaded to the MES, giving production teams complete traceability and SPC data for process control.
Core Advantages
Imaging colorimeters capture luminance and chromaticity over the full emitting area in one exposure, holding colour coordinate deviation within ±0.003 for consistent ambient light quality.
Standardised quick-change fixtures switch between ambient light models within minutes, so one tester covers light strips, PCB modules and complete assemblies across model changes.
Optical and electrical tests run together in a single loading cycle, eliminating repeat handling between stations and the risk of secondary damage to finished ambient lights.
HY’s in-house test software links every result to the unit barcode for full traceability, with SPC analysis and real-time upload to the customer’s MES or ERP system.
Technical Specifications

Luminance, colour coordinates, uniformity, ΔE colour difference and angular light distribution are measured over the full emitting surface in a single exposure.

CIE 1931 and CIE 1976 colour spaces are switchable in the software, with colour coordinate deviation held within ±0.003.

Operating voltage, current, power, continuity and insulation resistance, plus PWM dimming behaviour, are verified in the same loading cycle.

LIN, CAN and CAN FD communication is checked together with the optical tests, including dimming commands and status feedback.

Multi-zone ambient systems are captured synchronously, so every zone and RGB channel is measured under identical conditions.

Detection points can be placed by contour mapping or specified manually, matching each light guide and emitting area exactly.
Passenger Vehicle Interior Ambient Lights
Door panels, dashboards, centre consoles and headliner ambient lights are tested for luminance, colour coordinates and uniformity across the full emitting surface. Quick-change fixtures hold each trim part in its exact assembly position, so light strips and complete modules are verified under the same conditions they will see in the vehicle.

Display & Button Backlight Testing
Instrument cluster and infotainment displays, backlit buttons and switch panels are checked for zoned luminance balance, dead pixels, light leakage and character clarity. Imaging measurement captures every zone in one exposure, revealing brightness differences and mura that point sensors cannot see.
NEV Smart Cockpit Lighting Systems
Smart cockpit ambient systems with RGB channels are tested for independent channel output, colour mixing accuracy, dynamic breathing and gradient effects, and multi-zone synchronisation. LIN and CAN FD communication is verified in the same loading cycle, including dimming commands and status feedback.

Logo Projector & Puddle Light Testing
Logo projectors and puddle lights are checked for projection clarity, geometric distortion and brightness distribution at the specified projection distance. The imaging system records the projected pattern exactly as the customer sees it, so pattern and focus defects are caught before the parts leave the line.
Packaging & Delivery
Every ambient light EOL testing system is engineered and configured to order. After the factory acceptance test, the equipment is packed in protective export crating for international transport, and the delivery time is confirmed with the quotation according to the selected configuration.

Single-Station Combined Testing vs Separate Optical & Electrical Testers
Ambient lights are loaded once and tested completely. Separate optical and electrical testers need repeated loading and unloading between stations, adding handling time and the risk of secondary damage.
One station covers optical, electrical and communication items together. Split stations leave gaps between test scopes, so items at the interface can be missed.
All results for a unit are recorded in one record under one barcode, ready for MES upload and SPC analysis. Split stations produce separate records that must be matched manually.
Quick-change fixtures switch models within minutes on the same tester. Separate stations each need their own fixture change and re-validation at every model change.
Optional Configuration
- Multi-Model Quick-Change Fixture Adaptation
- Optical Testing Parameter Customization
- Electrical Performance Module Configuration
- MES Data Interface Customization
- Loading/Unloading & Automation Integration
- Appearance & Defect Vision Inspection
Customised quick-change fixtures with standardised interfaces and positioning datums adapt the tester to new ambient light models within minutes, covering light strips, PCB modules and complete assemblies.
Optical test items and thresholds are set per model: luminance, colour coordinates, uniformity, ΔE colour difference and angular distribution, with CIE 1931 / CIE 1976 colour spaces and detection points placed by contour mapping or manual specification.
Electrical modules are configured to the product: voltage, current, power, continuity and insulation resistance tests, PWM dimming verification and LIN / CAN communication checks with multi-channel synchronous acquisition.
Data interfaces are customised for the customer’s MES or ERP, including field mapping, barcode traceability, batch management and SPC reporting, with local storage and cloud backup options.
Manual, semi-automatic or robotic loading and unloading can be integrated, together with safety light curtains, barcode scanners, defect sorting and label printing.
An optional vision module inspects scratches, bubbles, misalignment and missing components with AI image recognition, running in parallel with the optical and electrical tests in the same cycle.
It verifies luminance, chromaticity, uniformity and ΔE colour difference over the full emitting surface, together with operating voltage, current and communication functions — all in a single loading cycle at the end of the production line.
Yes. Standardised quick-change fixtures switch between models within minutes, and each model keeps its own test recipe and thresholds, so light strips, PCB modules and complete assemblies share one tester.
The tester verifies LIN, CAN and CAN FD communication in the same cycle as the optical and electrical tests, including PWM dimming commands and status feedback.
Yes. HY’s in-house software uploads results to the customer’s MES or ERP in real time, with every record linked to the unit barcode for traceability, plus SPC analysis for process control.
An optional vision module can be added to inspect scratches, bubbles, misalignment and missing components using AI image recognition, running in parallel with the optical and electrical tests in one cycle.
