The HY imaging colorimeter captures the luminance and chromaticity of every pixel across the full field of view in a single exposure. Its XYZ tristimulus filters are strictly matched to the CIE 1931 standard observer curves, so one shot replaces slow point-by-point scanning and delivers a complete light and color map of displays, lamps and backlit components.

Built around a 20MP CMOS sensor with high dynamic range above 1,000,000:1, interchangeable 16mm, 25mm and 50mm lenses and a GigE interface with GenICam support, the instrument integrates directly into production lines and laboratory benches. Rated for -30°C to 60°C operation, it works inside a dark enclosure with scheduled calibration to keep measurements stable over long-term use.

Core Advantages

One exposure captures the luminance and chromaticity of every pixel in the field of view — no point-by-point scanning, so 100% inspection keeps up with production-line speed.

XYZ tristimulus filters strictly matched to the CIE 1931 curves deliver ±3% luminance accuracy and ±0.003 chromaticity accuracy, with chromaticity repeatability of ±0.0005.

The standard luminance range of 0.01–50,000 cd/m² and HDR above 1,000,000:1 cover very dim emitters and high-brightness sources in one setup — and optional ND8 filters extend the range up to 1,000,000 cd/m².

A 20MP CMOS sensor resolves fine structures such as LED segments and mura patterns, and interchangeable 16mm, 25mm and 50mm lenses adapt the field of view to the part under test.

Built for the production floor: the camera operates from -30°C to 60°C and connects over GigE with GenICam support, ready for trigger-controlled integration into automated lines.

Lens focal length, ND filters, measurement parameters and algorithms (ROI, ΔE, CCT, dominant wavelength) and trigger and communication interfaces can all be customised to your workpiece and material.

Optional Configuration

More Efficient
Lens Focal Length Selection

Choose 16mm, 25mm or 50mm lenses to match the field of view to your part size and working distance — from small keyboard backlights to large display panels.

Good Compatibility
ND Filter Extension

Optional ND8 neutral density filters extend the luminance range up to 1,000,000 cd/m², so high-brightness sources can be measured without saturating the sensor.

Ease of Identification
Measurement Parameters & Algorithm Customization

Custom light and color analysis algorithms and measurement parameters — including ROI definition, ΔE*, CCT and dominant wavelength — can be configured to your inspection standard.

Easy to Use
Trigger & Communication Interface Customization

Standard GigE interface with GenICam protocol support; trigger modes and communication interfaces can be customised for integration with your PLC and production line.

What is an imaging colorimeter?

An imaging colorimeter is a camera-based measurement instrument that captures the luminance and chromaticity of every pixel in its field of view in a single exposure. Instead of measuring one point at a time, it produces full 2D maps of brightness and color, which makes it ideal for 100% production-line inspection of displays, automotive lighting and backlights.

What luminance range can the HY imaging colorimeter measure?

The standard luminance range is 0.01–50,000 cd/m², with HDR above 1,000,000:1 for scenes that mix very dim and very bright areas. Optional ND8 filters extend the range up to 1,000,000 cd/m² for high-brightness sources.

How accurate is the measurement?

Luminance accuracy is ±3% and chromaticity accuracy is ±0.003, with chromaticity repeatability of ±0.0005. The XYZ tristimulus filters are strictly matched to the CIE 1931 standard observer curves, and scheduled calibration keeps the instrument at its rated accuracy over time.

What is the difference between XYZ tristimulus and Bayer imaging colorimeters?

XYZ tristimulus models use optical filters matched directly to the CIE 1931 standard observer curves, so luminance and chromaticity are measured with high absolute accuracy. Bayer models use an RGB Bayer mosaic sensor: they are a cost-effective choice for high-speed luminance and chromaticity screening where the highest absolute color accuracy is not required. Tell us your tolerance and takt time, and our engineers will recommend the right type.

Can the imaging colorimeter be integrated into a production line?

Yes. The instrument connects over GigE with GenICam support, and trigger modes and communication interfaces can be customised for PLC and line integration. For stable, repeatable results it is normally installed in a dark enclosure and kept on a scheduled calibration plan.
