Imaging Colorimeter
Point-by-point color measurement is too slow for 100% production-line inspection — a single slow station holds back the whole line.
20MP CMOS Sensor | XYZ Tristimulus Filters | ±3% Luminance Accuracy | 0.01–50,000 cd/m²

The HY imaging colorimeter captures the luminance and chromaticity of every pixel across the full field of view in a single exposure. Its XYZ tristimulus filters are strictly matched to the CIE 1931 standard observer curves, so one shot replaces slow point-by-point scanning and delivers a complete light and color map of displays, lamps and backlit components.
Built around a 20MP CMOS sensor with high dynamic range above 1,000,000:1, interchangeable 16mm, 25mm and 50mm lenses and a GigE interface with GenICam support, the instrument integrates directly into production lines and laboratory benches. Rated for -30°C to 60°C operation, it works inside a dark enclosure with scheduled calibration to keep measurements stable over long-term use.

Comparison: Imaging Colorimeter vs Spectroradiometer
| Aspect | Imaging Colorimeter | Spectroradiometer |
|---|---|---|
| Measurement method | Full-field 2D imaging — every pixel measured in one exposure | Single-point measurement, spot by spot |
| Speed | One shot per part — suited to 100% in-line inspection | Slower per part; point scanning multiplies test time on large areas |
| Color accuracy | ±0.003 chromaticity with tristimulus filters matched to CIE 1931 | Reference-level spectral accuracy, mainly for laboratory work |
| Spatial information | Full luminance and color maps — uniformity, mura and local defects visible at a glance | No spatial distribution from a single measurement point |
| Best for | Production-line quality control of displays, automotive lighting and backlights | Laboratory analysis and reference measurement |
Packaging & Delivery
Each imaging colorimeter is packed in protective export packaging suitable for international transport. The delivery configuration — lenses, ND filters, calibration and interface options — is confirmed with our engineers before dispatch, so the instrument arrives ready for your line.
HY imaging colorimeters are used for display light and color quality inspection, automotive interior and exterior lighting testing, backlight module and keyboard backlight testing, and LED luminaire evaluation. Send us your sample or workpiece drawing, and our engineers will recommend the right lens and configuration.
Core Advantages
One exposure captures the luminance and chromaticity of every pixel in the field of view — no point-by-point scanning, so 100% inspection keeps up with production-line speed.
XYZ tristimulus filters strictly matched to the CIE 1931 curves deliver ±3% luminance accuracy and ±0.003 chromaticity accuracy, with chromaticity repeatability of ±0.0005.
The standard luminance range of 0.01–50,000 cd/m² and HDR above 1,000,000:1 cover very dim emitters and high-brightness sources in one setup — and optional ND8 filters extend the range up to 1,000,000 cd/m².
A 20MP CMOS sensor resolves fine structures such as LED segments and mura patterns, and interchangeable 16mm, 25mm and 50mm lenses adapt the field of view to the part under test.
Built for the production floor: the camera operates from -30°C to 60°C and connects over GigE with GenICam support, ready for trigger-controlled integration into automated lines.
Lens focal length, ND filters, measurement parameters and algorithms (ROI, ΔE, CCT, dominant wavelength) and trigger and communication interfaces can all be customised to your workpiece and material.
Optional Configuration

Choose 16mm, 25mm or 50mm lenses to match the field of view to your part size and working distance — from small keyboard backlights to large display panels.

Optional ND8 neutral density filters extend the luminance range up to 1,000,000 cd/m², so high-brightness sources can be measured without saturating the sensor.

Custom light and color analysis algorithms and measurement parameters — including ROI definition, ΔE*, CCT and dominant wavelength — can be configured to your inspection standard.

Standard GigE interface with GenICam protocol support; trigger modes and communication interfaces can be customised for integration with your PLC and production line.
Aplicações
- Display Light & Color Quality Inspection
Full-field luminance and chromaticity maps reveal mura, brightness non-uniformity and color shift on LCD, OLED and Mini/Micro LED panels in a single shot.
- Automotive Interior & Exterior Lighting Testing
Measures the light output and color performance of interior ambient lights, headlamps and tail lamps against design targets before end-of-line testing.
- Backlight Module & Keyboard Backlight Testing
Checks backlight units and keyboard backlights for brightness uniformity and color consistency across the whole emitting area, pixel by pixel.
- LED Luminaire & Lighting Product Evaluation
Evaluates LED luminaires and lighting products for luminance distribution, chromaticity and color uniformity in R&D and quality control.
An imaging colorimeter is a camera-based measurement instrument that captures the luminance and chromaticity of every pixel in its field of view in a single exposure. Instead of measuring one point at a time, it produces full 2D maps of brightness and color, which makes it ideal for 100% production-line inspection of displays, automotive lighting and backlights.
The standard luminance range is 0.01–50,000 cd/m², with HDR above 1,000,000:1 for scenes that mix very dim and very bright areas. Optional ND8 filters extend the range up to 1,000,000 cd/m² for high-brightness sources.
Luminance accuracy is ±3% and chromaticity accuracy is ±0.003, with chromaticity repeatability of ±0.0005. The XYZ tristimulus filters are strictly matched to the CIE 1931 standard observer curves, and scheduled calibration keeps the instrument at its rated accuracy over time.
XYZ tristimulus models use optical filters matched directly to the CIE 1931 standard observer curves, so luminance and chromaticity are measured with high absolute accuracy. Bayer models use an RGB Bayer mosaic sensor: they are a cost-effective choice for high-speed luminance and chromaticity screening where the highest absolute color accuracy is not required. Tell us your tolerance and takt time, and our engineers will recommend the right type.
Yes. The instrument connects over GigE with GenICam support, and trigger modes and communication interfaces can be customised for PLC and line integration. For stable, repeatable results it is normally installed in a dark enclosure and kept on a scheduled calibration plan.
